Mattel said that the company will develop toys with the theme of space exploration under the Matchbox brand, and these toys will be listed next year. In addition, space-inspired collections will debut on Mattel Creations platform next year. Mattel Creative is the company’s direct consumer-oriented platform, selling higher-priced and more sophisticated toy variants to collectors.
Mattel has produced Barbie dolls and hot wheels toy cars, and has cooperated with Musk in the past. In 2020, Mattel developed two remote-controlled cars inspired by Tesla Cybertruck pickup trucks: a small car with a price of $20 and a limited-edition car with a price of $400.
In 2018, when Musk sent a Tesla Roadster sports car into space, a Mattel version of the car was installed on the dashboard of the car, and a miniature astronaut was sitting inside. Mattel’s share price rose 4.1% on Wednesday and has risen 9% this year. (Author/Xiao Yu)
