Intel’s NUC Elements is the company’s new modular PC program, which aims to simplify system-level design and enable OEMs to manufacture ultra-compact desktop computers. The NUC Elements module is based on Intel u-series Core, Celeron or Pentium Gold processors with TDP up to 15 watts. These modules integrate 4GB or 8GB dual-channel memory, up to 64GB eMMC solid-state storage, and the Wi-Fi 5+ Bluetooth 5.0 function provided by Intel’s Wireless-AC 9560 chip.
Each NUC 8 Compute Element uses a card edge connector to connect the power supply and I/O. The connector provides USB 3.1/2.0, DisplayPort/HDMI, eDP, GbE, PCIe, HD audio and eSPI interfaces. Then, OEMs and chassis suppliers can mix and match according to their own preferences, including connecting other peripheral devices through PCI and USB.
Finally, Intel will also provide a variety of chassis, which will be sold as part of the motherboard+chassis suite to customers who are essentially looking for turnkey solutions. Intel’s NUC Elements can work 24/7 with a three-year warranty. Pricing depends on the actual configuration and other factors.
