I’d like to say a few words before the text begins. Last year’s Blizzcon was related to Diablo 3. One of the two panel, beside and I had already made the subtitles for everyone to see two days after the carnival, and the other one had finished all the content at turtle speed not long ago. Looking back now, I found that many details and interesting contents didn’t attract everyone’s attention. On the contrary, the video felt mediocre after a look. Also, the video itself is not suitable for website archiving, so I decided to re-write several important new systems in Diablo III in detail. I had already done the rune system at that time, so I counted it as the first article, and the link is at the end of this article. This is the second article, and the length is very short. Perhaps because the system itself has not changed much, there is not much to say. The last article will mention the trait system.

Kevin Martens is the chief content designer of Diablo III. He will introduce the amulet system in Diablo III to us.

Before we talk about the amulet system, let’s talk about the amulet in Diablo II. In Diablo II, the talisman is a very simple cost-effective system. Some items can be put in your backpack, which takes up some space, but it will give your characters many kinds of rewards. Diablo 3′ s design team likes the basic concept behind the amulet, that is, the amulet itself, but in Diablo 2, the problem caused by this is that most players will put as many amulets as possible in their backpacks, leaving little backpack space so that nothing can fit. Designers feel that this is not a good choice. Moreover, once you get used to the existing amulets, it is difficult for players to take them out, because the amulets themselves are well combined with the skill attributes of the players.

So … . . How to solve this problem while retaining the amulet?

The Talisman system was released. . .

Amulet system is a backpack system specially used for placing amulets. It will gradually get bigger as time goes by. This retains all the advantages of the talisman system in Diablo II. However, players will still have more amulets than backpack space, so they still need to be careful to choose what amulets to put in it.

Now that we have a new space dedicated to the talisman, let’s talk about the talisman itself. Let’s look at the evolution of the amulet. There are so many kinds of amulets in Diablo 2 that basically there are no additional attributes that can’t be seen in the amulet. The bonus of the talisman in Diablo III will pay more attention to the core attributes of the characters. This is very helpful for players to personalize their roles. Amulet system can be used to fill one’s weaknesses or make oneself stronger. The talisman will also have different levels in the game. It will still be an important part of your character structure, so players will change their amulets according to their own skills during the upgrade process.
