Fairchild Semiconductor announced that FSA800, its USB accessory switch product, won the excellent product award in the analog/signal path category of the 20th EDN annual innovation award.

Fairchild Semiconductor’s FSA800 device is a USB accessory switch with three choices, which can make USB data, audio signal and UART data share a common connector port output. The device also has the function of charging detection and microphone connection, and provides excellent audio signal integrity and the function of charging overvoltage protection (OVP) of VBUS line.

Fairchild Semiconductor’s mobile application products complement the chipset in the signal path, which can be used for audio, video, USB, signaling and sensing, and provide timing and power management chips for peripherals/cores, lighting and RF to promote the differentiation of terminal products.

Rick Nelson, editor-in-chief of EDN magazine, said: "From the winning products of the 20th EDN annual innovation award, it can be confirmed that innovation activities remained strong throughout the economic downturn. In the fierce competition, 30 products won out of more than 130 finalists. Fairchild Semiconductor’s FSA800 won in the analog/signal path category, which is a model for mainstream innovative enterprises to achieve brilliant results. "

EDN’s annual innovation award aims to recognize outstanding electronic technology professionals and products. The magazine combines readers’ voting, and the final winner is selected by EDN Editorial Advisory Committee and EDN editors.
