• The transmitter and receiver can transmit and receive 4K 60fps video through a single channel, and use USB Type-C device to realize the user experience like a personal computer.
Portland, Oregon, USA — August 3, 2015 — Lattice Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: LSCC), a leading supplier of customized intelligent interconnection solutions, today announced the launch of the world’s first superMHL solution that simultaneously supports 4K 60fps RGB/4:4:4 video and USB 3.1 Gen 1 or Gen 2 data through USB Type-C interface. SiI8630 and SiI9396 are superMHL&trade with low power consumption; The transmitter and receiver pair can transmit and receive 4K 60fps video through a single channel, and use USB Type-C device to realize personal computer-like user experience.
SiI8630 – Suitable for mobile/personal computer market
The SiI8630 transmitter can seamlessly connect with the HDMI? 2.0 transmitter integrated by the application processors in the latest mobile phones, tablets and laptops. Because it contains an MHL switch, it can be directly connected to a USB Type-C interface supporting USB 2.0 without using an additional high-speed switch. Using SiI8630 and Sil7033, a complete solution can be achieved that supports both 4K 60 video and USB 3.1 Gen 1 data.
SiI9396 – Suitable for mobile/personal computer accessories and display screens
The SiI9396 receiver is an ideal choice for MHL adapters and base equipment. When paired with SiI7023 or SiI7033, MHL accessories can be designed to connect USB Type-C mobile and personal computer products to HDMI display screens and USB connection devices, such as keyboards, mice and external memories. The SiI9396 receiver can also be used to connect monitors, projectors and televisions to MHL and superMHL source devices, including mobile and personal computer devices with USB Type-C interfaces.
The USB Type-C products adopting the above solutions can connect more than 750 million existing MHL and future superMHL devices, including televisions, monitors, AVR, Blu-ray Disc™ ) players, projectors, set-top boxes and automotive products.
Abdullah Raouf, Senior Marketing Manager of Lattice Semiconductor, said: "Our superMHL transmitter and receiver can provide the lowest power consumption and fast time to market, and it is the only solution that supports both USB 3.1 data and 4K60 ultra-high definition video at present, which can meet the growing application requirements on mobile devices. Other video solutions need to use four channels to transmit 4K 60fps video, and they cannot support 4K video and USB 3.1 data at the same time. "
SiI8630 and SiI9396 devices support:
Use single channel to transmit ultra-high definition 4K60fps 4:4:4 video.
Enhanced Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) characteristics.
Support USB 3.1(Gen 1 or Gen 2) data at the same time.
Seamless integration with USB Type-C products.
The latest superMHL features (BT.2020, high dynamic range, target audio technology and HDCP 2.2).
Backward compatibility with products supporting MHL1, 2 and 3 specifications.
Related evaluation kits are now available. For more information about MHL Alternate Mode ("Alt Mode") supporting USB Type-C specification, please visit: http://www.mhltech.org/usbtype-c.aspx.
