At the beginning of the article, the author wants to make it clear that although the Indian way of picking up trains looks very funny, it is very dangerous, very, very dangerous. Say the important things three times! Never imitate! Never imitate! Never imitate!

All right, let’s get down to business. India’s railway transportation can be said to have a long history. As early as 1832, there were trains in India. At that time, these trains were mainly freight trains, which were used to transport raw materials for India’s industrial construction. However, under the condition that the means of transportation were very backward at that time, it was not an easy task for people to make a living from one state to another, so some people simply came up with the idea of hitchhiking on freight trains. Later, when word spread, there was a spectacle that Indian trains were full of hitchhikers.

Seeing the business opportunities, the British East India Company (different from the Dutch East India Company) immediately began to build passenger train lines. By 1853, the number of passenger train companies in India had increased to eight, and the railway lines also covered the capitals of several major Indian States. The passenger trains also increased from three carriages to 14 carriages, which could accommodate 400 passengers.

However, this still can’t solve the increasing travel pressure. Railway stations are often crowded with passengers waiting for the train, and even the station can’t accommodate these passengers. Many passengers simply wait for the train to enter the station on the railway line, and then get on the train directly when the train slows down to a very slow speed. Later, this skill has become a unique skill of Indians.

In order to solve this crowded and explosive situation, the Indian passenger train system has issued a 24-hour effective "ticket" while adding lines and trains. Passengers who have bought a hanging ticket can "take" any train at any train station at any time and go wherever they want. If they find that they have taken the wrong bus, they can get off at the next platform and turn back. This strange ticket and travel mode has never changed in India.

It is said that after 1869, India’s passenger and freight railway system entered an explosive growth mode. By 1880, the total length of Indian railways had reached nearly 30,000 kilometers in just 11 years. By 1929, the total length of Indian railways had reached 70,000 kilometers.

In the 21st century, the development speed of Indian railways has become faster, and the main railway lines in India have entered the electrification era. Many feeder trains have been in service for more than 50 years, and they have to carry passengers overloaded. The new trains are also facing the embarrassing situation that they are so overcrowded that they can’t even close the doors. Perhaps the only commendable thing is that with the introduction of new trains, passengers can get better catering services, such as all kinds of snacks and drinks, all kinds of simple lunches and even luxury dining cars, provided that you can move there.

Of course, many ticket-hanging passengers have also learned the skill of hanging out of the car to eat and even brush their friends’ circle, but the seemingly joyful and wonderful "ticket-hanging" has become more dangerous with the speed increase of the railway, and there have been thousands of accidents only from 2007 to 2012.

Say the important things three times! It’s very dangerous to steal a train! Very dangerous! Very, very dangerous behavior! Don’t imitate for your own safety and for your family!
