According to industry analysis, Apple’s lawsuit against HTC in the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) will be finalized on the 15th. If HTC successfully circumvents Apple’s patent by changing the touch sensor supplier, it is expected to slow down the adverse impact that may be caused by the final judgment, stabilize the future sales in the United States, and help the operation to regain growth.
Patent experts said that HTC’s intention to change the touch sensor supplier is a remedy after the sheep is dead, which cannot affect the final judgment on the 15th, but it is of great significance to HTC’s future sales. Once ITC executes the injunction, HTC can continue to sell products in the United States on the grounds that the new products have a new design that circumvents Apple’s patents and there is no infringement.
HTC has made frequent moves recently, not only accusing foreign banks of suppressing stock prices, but also intentionally replacing key component suppliers, revealing the company’s tough determination and gaining a positive response from the market. Yesterday, the stock price rose by NT$ 11 against the trend and closed at NT$ 426, temporarily resolving the bottom-breaking crisis.
John Vinh, a semiconductor analyst at Collins Stewart, pointed out in the latest report that HTC is currently redesigning its mobile phone in order to avoid Apple-related patents, and may change the touch sensor supplier from Termel to Xinsi or Parsons Semiconductor. Vinh said that maxTouch, an Ai Termel sensor product used in HTC’s mobile phone with indium tin oxide (ITO) touch panel, is very similar to Apple’s touch products. If HTC uses touch sensors from other companies, it will avoid Apple’s patent.
