Nest obviously needs the stimulation of great success, and the product Learning Thermostat released earlier today is obviously not a "heavy product". Nest seems to be making slow progress in launching new products. In 2011, the company launched the original version of Learning Thermostat, and launched an improved version less than a year later. In 2013, Nest introduced smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. In 2014, Google spent $3.2 billion to acquire the company. A few months later, Google spent $555 million to acquire Dropcam, and integrated its camera into the Nest product.
But since becoming a subsidiary of Google, Nest’s passion for innovation seems to have disappeared. Then, Tony Fadell, co-founder of Nest, announced his resignation in the summer of 2016. However, under the leadership of Marwan Fawaz, Nest launched a new Nest Cams, which made the existing products more intelligent and expanded the company’s business overseas.
Obviously Nest has something special, and Google knows how to show it. Let’s wait for the surprise brought by September 20th!
