Market background
There is a big power shortage in Bangladesh, and power outages occur from time to time, which seriously affects people’s lives and business operations. The power supply is seriously insufficient, and it is basically imported from India, Myanmar, Bhutan and other countries. The shortage of electricity also restricts the local economic development. Nearly 90% of the country’s electricity comes from natural gas generation, and coal generation accounts for 5%. Due to the increasingly tight supply of natural gas in Bangladesh, the government is actively developing coal resources. The Bangladeshi government attaches great importance to this and uses various funds to develop the power industry. Bangladesh receives more than $2 billion in support from the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the Kuwait Foundation and the Saudi Arabian Foundation every year. Power Vision Plan for 2020: The Bangladeshi government is making great efforts to improve the power generation, transmission and distribution capacity, so that all people can use electricity in 2020. To achieve this goal, by 2020, the installed capacity will reach 17765MW, the transmission line will reach 8396km and the distribution line will reach 477558km.
